Problems N900

I have problems with my N900:
1. becomes very hot when I use
2. does not read media card
3. when I open the lid of the chamber APPLICATION does not open and it does so only if I press the button.

I have warranty in USA but I'm in Guatemala for the moment I can not travel any solution.

Re: 1. : Are you using Kernel-Power or are you using software from -devel (which?)?
Re: 2. : Have you tried to formally "mount" the media card. Linux treats all storage devices similarly; "mount" means connect and allow access to so and drive or media card should be mount-able (pun Not intended!). The N900 is supposed to provide access to the media so it can be read/written-to without having to mount it separately. Also, try wiping the contacts on both the device and card with an alcoholo-damp cotton bud. Note: you should NOT take out/replace the media card too often because it ruins the contacts.
Re 3. : What?

Is the heat and humidity affecting the N900 in Guatamala?

(1): known problem if you use it long enough. not actually a problem.

Re: Problems N900

Hi there,

The N900 can get quite warm if you use it intensively for a longer period of time. But in general when inactive it should stay relatively cool. What applications/processes are you running? Is CPU usage always very high?

As for (3) I assume you're talking about the camera lens cover failing to launch the application? Do you have the camera lens launcher application installed? If not try installing it to see if it detects the lens cover opening. Or install HealthCheck to see if it can detect the status of the lens cover. There is a small sensor next the camera lens which detects whether the cover is opened or closed, so it may be an hardware issue, or an isolated software bug on your device which might be solved by a hard reset or a ref lash.
