manual focus on both picture & video mode in N9's stock camera?

Hi guys I have been advised that N9 stock camera app has manual focus on both picture & video mode. However, it only works while I'm in picture mode for me. By manual focus I mean pressing the camera icon while in any mode to get the selected area focused and release it to take the picture/video. This is very useful when the autofocus or the touch focus fails to work. The bug report where I was suggested this is here. I found this very annoying at times esp on video mode when the auto/touch focus doesn't work the way I want and I can't do anything about it.

Please confirm if it works for you on both modes and well if it should be working but doesn't for some then please vote for the bug. Thank you.

Yeah their reaction is weird in that report...
It's like they're trying to close-it-off w/o any real just cause.
Hopefully we get some other people with the same issue.

i notice in Auto mode, focusing by holding the shutter button sometimes doesn't work. That's why i usually shoot in macro mode even for nornal shots.

for video, i realise continuous autofocus works only when you set camera to macro mode before switching over to video mode.
