use n9 without buttons?
Hey guys, got my white n9 today and am pretty chuffed with it. One thing I was wondering, the buttons are a bit loose which I know is pretty much standard across the board but how could I go about minimising my use of the hardware buttons? Don't need them for putting the phone into standby or volume but is it possible to power down the device without using the power button? That would leave only using the button to power on the phone which should be fine. Haven't really had a chance to play with the phone yet so apologies if this is a stupid question.

Re: use n9 without buttons?
Search for Reboot application in Store . With this app you can Reboot or Shutdown your device with only one press of a button . :)

Re: use n9 without buttons?
what about Lock Screen? Indeed, I do not use the hardware buttons if I can do the job by software tools. Every mechanical button has a limited lifetime.
On my Nokia E6 I use a tool called SmartPocketLock (dmkho.tripod.com) and this is really great. It uses the rotation sensor of the phone and you only have to rotate it upside down to lock it. It's a Symbian tool, would be great to have such a lock on my N9. |
Re: use n9 without buttons?
oh that's good thank you very much. so I can reboot the device by hitting a software button? removing the need for hardware buttons?
also, the usb flap and the sim card tray at the top of the device aren't perfectly flat, they look a bit disjointed kinda. I think this is quite common though right? not something to worry about? |
