PDF for small screen devices
 

PDF readers for Nokia are fully functional, but...
I don't feel very comfortable using them. It is necessary to zoom the page and then browse around it. So, it is possible to retrieve information by spending huge amount of time moving back and forth on the same page. Not very productive.
I used Palm 3C before. Adobe made converter for Palm, so that it was possible to browse PDF file almost the same way as it is done in FBReader. Text was converted to reasonable size and pictures were kept small. Formatting was different than in original document, but it was readable. When you want to see detailed picture, just click on it and it is magnified. It was very functional even on 160x160px screen. Something similar was done for pocket PC.
Have anybody heard about this kind of converter, so that it would be possible to enjoy viewing PDF files on Nokia. I would not mind if this would require preliminary conversion on PC.

Yes, it is something like reflow. The problem is that Adobe has this for PALM and Pocket PC. But to install them it is necessary to have this kind of device.
I'm looking for stand alone converter that could be used with Nokia.

Hi Begemot,

I think having the Reflow requires tagging of the original documents. Also, automatically trying to reflow certain documents sometimes render it quite badly (from experience of trying to reflow certain docs for my WM5 phone).

Still, I do hope PDF readers for the N800/N770 be able to handle reflowing pdfs anyway...maybe it was just some of my pdfs that didn't reflow well. Having the feature would increase the readability of PDFs a great deal.

It,s that very reason i DIDNT go with palm. I use pdf files for all the manuals i work with... If you have ever tried converting few a hundred megs pdf files you would understand that its better just to read them as is. Now the question is. whats up with evince? I've noticed recently it has become very laggy. Maybe its me but the .8x seemed a lot quicker.
