Bricked N900 please help :(
Hey Everyone,
I'm a long time lurker, but I really need some help. I've been trying to flash my N900 for about 4 months now :(:(:(. I tried getting an external battery charger now, and after letting the battery get full again, I tried flashing. At first it went into USB mode successfully. Then a couple seconds later it quickly went to an unbacklit screen with a couple rectangles on it and other garbled junk. Now when I plug the n900 in, it quickly flashes the led amber and does nothing. In device manager there is no USB device. If it's a full brick now, should I just buy an N9 at this point? Or try finding a good N900 on eBay or craigslist? Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can offer some advice :D |

Re: Bricked N900 please help :(
Okay, I'll try that method next. A bit of an update. I got the flasher working natively on my os (os x lion) instead of my xp vm. This time, I ran a command I found on reddit: flasher-3.5 -c -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R -S usb -h RX-51:2202
Here's the output I got: USB device found found at bus 001, device address 007-0421-0106-ff-ff. Waiting for ASIC id... Got 69 bytes. ASIC ID: 05 01 05 01 34 30 07 57 13 02 01 00 12 15 01 77 ff 69 97 12 55 ef 25 e8 fb 9b d8 95 d6 82 d6 ff 81 23 24 14 15 01 87 3b 4d cd ca f5 44 4d 24 ec b2 ac 95 53 88 41 4f ab cd 66 15 09 01 f7 48 8f 28 a0 27 e5 b3 Sending 2nd image (14720 bytes)... done. Re: Bricked N900 please help :(
Thanks for the help, I don't have a SIM in currently. I've tried some other commands with a different battery which works a bit better. Got the followeing output each time:
using serial port usb Suitable USB device not found, waiting. USB device found found at bus 002, device address 004-0421-0106-ff-ff. Waiting for ASIC id... Got 0 bytes. ... but need at least 69 bytes. Something went wrong. I'm just gonna call it on this one. It's not worth going nuts about, so should I pick up a 64GB N9 on amazon or a N900 on ebay? |
Re: Bricked N900 please help :(
Did you have u-boot befor your n900 bricked ? if yes then you could install meego and complete your life with it see here if curious about it google it for (ARM/N900/Install/Dual Boot)

Re: Bricked N900 please help :(
well i didnt see the N9 yet but if you know everything could be done using N900 you will never think about buying N9 see this thread : http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...83#post1193483
N9 have so many issues about the screen.applications......etc |
Re: Bricked N900 please help :(
I think your usb port might be hosed.
When you get the message Suitable USB device not found, waiting that usually means you are in sight of the promised land and about to flash successfully, unless your usb just doesn't work, something that happens to almost everyone who doesn't protect themselves. |
