PM system broken here?
 
Hi all,

Just joined the forums and need to write someone a PM, but it doesn't work. When accessing http://talk.maemo.org/private.php, I just get:

"... you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
To fully activate your account, you should click on the activation link on the email that was sent to you when you registered. If you didn't receive any activation email, you can have it resent."

Account is properly activated and as you can see, I can post in the forums :)

Anybody else with this problem? How to fix?

There seem to be some kind of restriction implemented, to prevent new users to sent PMs, you may have to have a certain amount of posts in the forum first to be able to send PMs. But a quick search in the FAQ did not help me to provide numbers for you, sorry!

So you want me to spam the forums now just for the sake of writing a PM? Which is what I'm doing right now by replying to your post :)

OPPSSS i cant do that i dont have this option when i click your name you need to be patient as michaaa62 said post and maybe it is about time im not sure!

Could you ask the person you are wanting to PM to send you a message instead? By this I mean quote the person in the respective topic and ask him/her to PM you for further discussions and also add a note saying that as a new user you cannot create a PM just yet.

Most people here are very understanding and I (personally) could not see anyone objecting to such a request.

@sifo, I think I have lost your second PM from earlier today. Sorry I did not get a chance to read it, could you send it me again :)
