How to restart Gtalk service?
From time to time (once or twice a week) Gtalk disconnects (network error) when I switch between wifi and 2G or 3G or from.
The only solution I know to reconnect Gtalk is rebooting the phone. I have been looking for some other solution, like disabling Gtalk account and re-enabling it, but it does not work. Does anybody know if it would be possible to kill some process from terminal or any other workaround in order to restart a fresh Gtalk connection? Thanks in advance. |
Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
IIRC you could kill mission-control-5 and D-Bus should respawn it. Didn't try though.

Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
I tried it, but it did nothing visible. Gtalk still cannot reconnect.
Thanks. |
Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
What happens if you just disable and reenable the account?
|
Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
Nothing at all. When I re-enable it, the "network error" message is there.

Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
An alternative to the "network error" message is the green blinking dot. It remains blinking forever.

Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
Can you find any information about
network error reason in /var/log/syslog? |

Nicolai,
I do not know. I have attached my syslog. It begins exactly when I tried to connect my Gtalk account (10:33). At 10:38 I connected Skype. Thanks. |
Re: How to restart Gtalk service?
I'm just unable to refrain from posting a useless me too post because this is my major problem with the N9. Please keep shouting ideas even if they are longshots.

Quazix,
I am glad I am not the only one. I searched all around TMO and other sites and I did not find any single reference to this problem. |
