Re: GPE Calendar..(i've searched)
This is one of the quirky things about the application install for the tablet.
I just did this, as a result of this thread. What I had to do (and it can be different apparently depending on your repository list) was install from command line. (You have to be root) I tried the above repository and it failed to install the gpe-calendar. But it didn't say failed dependencies and give me the details button, I think it said not compatible or something similar and not helpful. So, I went to shell as root and typed "apt-get install gpe-calendar". It also failed, but it told me why. It said I was missing oss-thumbnail0 (1.5fix something something.. :-). OK, I looked around on google, but couldn't find anything specific, so I typed "apt-get install osso-thumbnail0", and it found it, but it asked me a Y/n question about downloading some other things (I don't remember the exact message, this was last night. :-). I said Y. It installed fine. Then I re-typed "apt-get install gpe-calendar" and it installed. Obviously, the GUI Application install program isn't a full frontend for apt-get, so some important messages get filtered out. If we had some verifiable standard organized list of repositories, that would probably help. But when people ask, all I see as replies is "Search, it's been asked before", so people get old repository lists, or they are told to go to the maemo wiki page, which also seems to have old repositories, judging by the messages I've seen where people are told to disable some repositories to install things. It reminds me of the dll-hell we used to (and still do to some extent) have with Windows. (I use both OSes, but I'm primarily a Linux person, but because we have Novell support at work, we have been using SuSE (RPM based), so I'm just getting familiar with apt-get.) desiv p.s. This is from bad memory, so it is all "close" to what I did. :) |

Hello desiv,
Have you tried this repository: Kernel Concepts Web address http://downloads.kernelconcepts.de/maemo2 Distribution mistral Components free Applications GPE Calendar, GPE Contacts, GPE Todo I´ve installed GPE Suite using it without any problems. It is listed on the Maemo.org repository collection: http://maemo.org/community/wiki/appl...nrepositories/. WBR! alexib |
Re: GPE Calendar..(i've searched)
Thanx alexib, but I had it working.
I was just describing what I did to get it installed. I had used the above (maemo3), but it hiccuped. I probably should have tried changing it to maemo2, now that I think about it. :-) As I found out when I ran apt-get, I was having problems on the osso-thumbnail0, but I was able to install it from there. desiv Now that I look at it, I wonder if I should uninstall it, change that to maemo2 and reinstall it, just to be safe. :-) |
Re: GPE Calendar..(i've searched)
Well, no go.
I changed my repository to maemo2, etc... Uninstalled gpe-calendar. Re-installed gpe-calendar. The install went fine, but it won't run. When I start it from the shell, I get the error: error while loading shared libraries: libgpedevtype.so.0 .... I don't know if I should uninstall and resintall something else, or just switch back to the maemo3 version. I'll do some more digging. This was at work, and lunch is over. Update: On break I went down to the cafe and typed: apt-get install libgpevtype0 (the "de" above was my typo, the error was on file libgpevtype.so.0 :-) Works like before. desiv |
