N900's really awkward charging behaviour

Hello. I am tryting to figure out what is up with the N900 when I have it charging to my PC.

What happens is the following after I turn it off:
1. A short, but irritating virbration occurs and the Nokia Logo shows up dark
2. The Nokia logo goes bright
3. The screen backlight turns off and a yellow LED pulses twice
4. The led very briefly flashes green
5. The backlight turns on and the screen fades to black for 1 second
6. The backlight turns off

And this whole process repeats again. It is so annoying. I wish I could control how the N900 charges when it's off, and never have it display the logo, or have it vibrate at all.

This doesn't really happen when I plug it into the wall.

Just a final note: I just think that the whole charging sequence is f*cked up. I feel like I have so little control of the N900 when it's charging when it's off, and even when it's on, the f*cking toast popup has to always remind me to "remove the charger from the wall" and stuff, and that lack of control isn't good at all.

Can someone help me understand this irritating problem, possibly?

New battery could solve the problem, or a reflash, sent from my n9, which has its own charging problems which including temporarily killing the phone till the kernel has been reflashed

don't have a n900, but the n9 is also behaving strange when charging from the pc.
when i plug it, it will say „insufficient energy”, but will charge none the less. Slower but that is expectable.
I suppose this behavior is caused by the charging module, as you know the lithium batteries charging is quite finiky. Maybe a new batt will change the charging behavior, but you could try to discharge completely the battery to see if that will make a difference. (discharging completely is not recommended too often, but will reset some parameters in the charging module).
Hope this helps.

it happens to every N900...
because power from Pc USB port is less then the real charger...

the good way to charge through PC is when N900 is already booted(running maemo)

if it doesn't have charge enough to boot, charge it from the charger

Sounds like the PC USB port can't provide enough power to charge your N900. As mentioned above.

Well, I figured just as much. And when I have other devices on the back USB ports, the voltage is even lower than one on the front, I'm assuming.

And usually the N900 is already running, but sometimes the battery only lasts a few hours on "normal use" and then, before I notice it's 5%, it's flat.

I'm just saying that there should be a way to only have the device such that USB Flashing mode ready when I press a button, but otherwise, do nothing while it's charging. What Android does is it has its own bootloader load up when you power on and hold a couple hardware buttons, and then it allows reflashing from there. If only the N900 did it this way...

And the random reboots I have with Maemo and NITDroid don't help either. May be due to overheating.
