Mapping softwares
 

Hello!

Is there anyone who developing mapping softwares?

I'm looking for something else than googlemap software.
Like normal outdoor GPS.

Feature request!
- calibrating own scanned map .jpg .png
- creating and manage waypoints
- saving tracks

;) Oziexplorer .map support and custom Garmin .img files ;)

Maemo Mapper supports WMS-based repositories that are typical of "outdoor" applications, like the topographical maps offered by terraserver-usa.com. This doesn't solve your "calibrating own scanned map" requirement or your need for Oziexplorer .map or Garmin .img support, though...

I got to say that that idea was actually pretty good. gnuite: do you think it might be possible for you to add a 'own image' support. The calibration would need the user to view 'own image' over the satellite/map image. On the side of the screen would be rotate right, left buttons and scale up/down buttons. (or sliders for those) scaling would be done within the chosen resolution. Or other way would be to ask user to make a triangle on both maps by clicking on the same landmarks and the system would then calculate the needed rotations and scalings.

Map would of course be then split to subfiles as is the way done in the current maemo mapper.

Also, supporting overlay color would be great (click on a pixel on own map to make that color transparent.

Hello

770/800 screen is good for navigating and battery life time is guite good.

S60 and Pocket pc there is good software but both devices has poor displays.

Now Nokia 770/N800 needs something like that :)

Good feature these two software is you can use large resolution images.
Example one 8000X5000 image.

What kind process is convert python programs to different hardware?
Like Linux 386 to Nokia tablets?
