powermonkey for backup power!
Anyone seen or used this?:
http://www.powertraveller.com/acatal...cessories.html ....J&R sells them...seems like a better idea than a 2nd battery based on it's size....can plug this thing in anywhere....better than carrying Nokia charger with u right? What do u think?! ...or if there's something better, let us know! |

Problem for me is that I'd want to also buy three of their "MonkeyNuts", the name they give to alternative tips to use with a variety of gadgets. It already comes with a tip for the N800, no problem there, but I would need additional ones for my Palm T3, my LG cell phone, and my Archos 605. All the retailers say to buy these directly from the manufacturer's web site (www.powermonkey.co.uk) but although they list a whole lot of "MonekyNuts" (tips) they seem to provide no way to order them nor give any idea of the price nor S&H costs. I've emailed them but have not received an answer. . |
Re: powermonkey for backup power!
did u find a place selling cheaper than J&R??

Re: powermonkey for backup power!

Re: powermonkey for backup power!
looks cool Rebski!....do u think it will be as reliable as the Powermonkey one??...ie. store as much power, let u operate n800 while charging
...about to buy one of these... |
Re: powermonkey for backup power!
They are both rated at 2200mah. From my experience of these powerpacks you can use your device while it is being charged. I have no direct experience of either of these packs and the best I can do is to direct you to this review
http://www.trustedreviews.com/periph...ble-Battery/p1 Another one that looks good is the Powerstick 15 rated at 4000mah but it costs $80. I am not clear if the small pin Nokia connector is included in the pack but it should be possible to buy an adaptor in a radio spares shop. http://www.batterygeek.net/Batteryge...erstick_15.htm If you have a few minutes, check out their Segment 1 and Segment 2 video demonstration. Not only informative but they also have a great chuckle factor, I still can't figure if that guy is for real or a spot on spoof. |

Re: powermonkey for backup power!
I bought a Powermonkey on a BA flight. Just loaded my Nokia E61 full of music and got battery low warning when boarding the plane :( It nicely charged the phone and I got to listen to my music on my long haul flight.
I have been carrying it ever since in my laptop bag (the charger adapter are useful for my traveling needs). The amount of adapters (monkey nuts) included nicely compensates for the price. (USB->Nokia is very nice). Only bad thing is that the Nokia Big -> Nokia Small adapter is not exactly correct. The "spike" part is bit too long. It will change, but it does not attach to the phone as well as a original Nokia charger / adapter. Toni Ps. I have not actually tried this on my 770 just on a bunch of Nokia phones. |
Re: powermonkey for backup power!
I have seen the b-Power stick and variants, what I don't understand is how a single AA 1.5 volt battery can power a device that requires 5v?
Maybe I should try and translate the Turkish reviews. For my Zaurus I use a 4 x AA holder - bearing in mind that rechargeable AA's are 1.25v - which works remarkably well. If the b-Power made a 4 x AA version I would have one. |
Re: powermonkey for backup power!
I have the Powermonkey Explorer, and it's fantastic! It comes ready with a small Nokia tip, and it fits very snugly. You can also use the tablet while it's charging.
The solar adapter is amazing, and will give you power from just a regualar incandescent light bulb. It works best outside though, so I usually just lay it on the dash of my car or something. http://www.powermonkey-explorer.com/ |
