[FIXED] I can't install CSSU update :o!

Hi everybody!

I've a strange problem.

I had CSSU on my old N900 and CSSU is easy to setup: http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU

A day, I had a update notification but the phone would like use Nokia OVi Suite to made the update :

OVi Suite = The N900 have the last update
N900's firmwares = I've the last N900 update

Strange... :confused

A day, I broked my N900's USB connector (it's very fragile :mad:), cover magnet sensor and, of course, I earn a new N900 (sorry but I don't found a better phone:rolleyes:).

I update contacts, calendars, applications (I lost Angry bird, I'm angry too :mad:!) but I can't install CSSU update :eek:!!!!

Like my old N900, I've this message when I updating (sorry but I'm French):

Hi make sure you have enough rootfs space for updating and add your CSSU flavor repo and in terminal
sudo apt-get install mp-fremantle-community-pr
this is how i avoided that error in HAM

I have 66,7MB free on RootFS and 859,7MB on /home partition.

When you try to upgrade using the Application Manager and you get the "use Nokia PC Suite" error you might be able to press on the "details" button and there might be a "problems" button where there should be more information about the issue.

But why CSSU want to be updated by Nokia PC Suite?

I think the "Nokia PC Suite error" is a legacy in the software from the days when Nokia provided the updates. For whatever reason, the operating system could not be updated Over The Air (OTA), so the Nokia PC Suite (NPCS) software would download the relevant PR 1.x firmware image and flash it onto the phone.

Of course now the updates come from the Community, and even if they could customize NPCS to point to the community servers, I don't think the legal permission is there to distribute the proprietary code in the new firmware images that they would have to build.

Edit: So the reason why the error is there, is that when an OTA SSU fails the error is triggered, because no-one has modified the Application Manager to report something else.

As soon as there are conflicts/dependencies problems, HAM pop ups with that NOKIA PC suite error. Try to uninstall the conflicting packages first, then try again. I experienced this, with last CSSU-update too ;)

Please try to refresh the package cache manually. Make sure HAM is closed for some time already,m like 2mins. Then

Code:

sudo gainroot

dpkg --clear-avail

apt-get update

Better reboot for HAM to also remove temporary data there.

After reboot try the install via the install file again, do not try directly from HAM.
