Buying a new N900 Online
Hello everyone, I am a perspective maemo device owner. I am looking.
The question: Where can I find a N900 to buy on the internet? (New or used) Seriously I have been looking for weeks and almost bought from Hong Kong sellers/scammers on Ebay but dodged that thanks to this forum. If not online then maybe a store somewhere in Toronto Canada. Amazon is no good due to shipping options to Canada being always limited. Any help at all is appreciated- I really want this phone. Thanks and looking forward to being a part of this community once I have got my hands on the device. |

I can't believe how cheap they are. I feel like buying a third one as a backup of my backup. ;)

Re: Buying a new N900 Online
I am tempted to make this buy but the turn off is that it is coming from China and after having read http://ytscellphones.blogspot.com/20...r-name-is.html I am weary of the Hong Kong sellers. Is this specific seller (iastro888) somewhat better?

http://myworld.ebay.com/iastro888/?_trksid=p4340.l2559 As you can see, his overall feedback is good. However, if you click on the number next to the overall feedback score you are able to take a look at a more granular look of the feedback. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...c&myworld=true You can see that the vast majority of feedback is positive. There is a small amount of neutral feedback (since most people are either happy or upset), and a relatively small amount of negative feedback. Taking a look at the negative feedback, you will see that some people say they have received used phones instead of the expected new phone. http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...ve&interval=30 So, there is a chance of that happening to you. However, what I like about this seller is that it seems to always deliver. Meaning you are at least going to get something. More likely than not, you will get a good item, but there is a chance that you will not get what you were expecting. The price seems fair. I wouldn't sell either of my N900s for less than $600. And probably most of us that have one, and are somewhat regular in this forum, feel the same way. Hope you are happy with whatever you decide. |

Package Content: NEW Phone NEW Battery NEW battery door NEW Home Charger NEW FREE Stereo headset NEW FREE USB data We source our phones Brand New from Europe and Asia. The manual and CD are not included due to language differences. We will provide the information to download the manual in English from the official website upon request. There is no originary box. And a headphone and a USB cable should not be free. It is a part of the originary Nokia boxing. This offer sounds exactly like the rubbish Cellphoneforever is selling. |
Re: Buying a new N900 Online
That's what I'm thinking, it looks just like a cellphoneforever clone. I do not trust them. I found this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/130743962789?...=p5197.c0.m619 This guy said that it is a brand new replacement from the repair center. I find it sketchy.

Re: Buying a new N900 Online
I did buy "new" N900 from iastro888 just few weeks ago.
The phone is clearly refurbished: The screen protector is different than original. There is no sticker on the back instructing how to remove the back cover. The box seem original but it is missing the AV-cable and the charger adapter that my original N900 shipped with. The phone outer casing looks like new but the materials quality is lower than original phone. The kickstand especially is flimsy and the magnet lock is weak. On front panel the "NOKIA" logo text is much darker color than original. The slide out keyboard has much looser feel than my 2.5 year old N900. The screen also shows two bright dots/areas. (There is another thread here explaining this issue.) Luckily the internals seem all work fine. Therefore I decided to keep the phone. I can always swap the casing from my old phone to this if/when my old N900 breaks down. I did arque with the seller about the "item not as described" condition. Seller persisted that the phone is new from their supplier, but refused to give their supplier name. (If it really was new from authorized Nokia distributor they should have not have problem revealing their supplier name?) Finally he agreed to give a discount to reimburse some of the cost of selling refurbished phone as new. So if you want to buy a new N900, you'll not get it from iastro888. However, you might still get a decent phone for the money. |
