[Announce] Eliot (crossword game) on extras-devel
 

Eliot is an open source Scrabble game, freely available under the GNU GPL license.

Game has three modes, 9 dictionaries (from: http://download-mirror.savannah.gnu....es/eliot/dict/ ). It can be played against humans (locally) and computers.

Usage: Use menu to start game, create players, tune difficulty.
Click to the board to choose place (or use field called 'ref'). Type word to the field 'play word' and press 'PLAY'. If your move is valid, you can see how many points you will get before committing it.

Use menu for history and bag (they opens in new window), choose dictionaries, create own.

Optified. It could use some non-optified library, let iron them out lately.

sorry but i 'm not able to start the game even if I had already test your string in xterm (echo style=GTK+ >> /home/user/.config/Trolltech.conf)
after I tap on eliot icon, it load for a fw seconds and after nothing happen.
If i try to start it with xterminal i read this error:
"./eliot: line 1: syntax error: "(" unexpected".
Can you help me please?

That cryptic message means you are running i386 binary, not ARM. There was a problem on version 1.14-maemo1, and it is fixed on 1.14-maemo2 (released before announcement). Check which version you have.

You could also check
It must say ARM not Intel 80386.

im not 100% sure why but my open media player wont open and gui in some apps like faster application manager is f.ucked up after installing this and the crossword game and "echo style=GTK+ >> /home/user/.config/Trolltech.conf" because i didnt change anything else in the meantime what was the original style so i can change it back

AapoRantalainen - the style=GTK+ addition to Trolltech.conf is - as observed by GrimyHR - causing fapman and omp to segfault. Is it not possible to define this with the launching of eliot (I notice the same issue with Quackle).

GrimeyHR - remove this entry from Trolltech.conf to allow OPM and fapman to launch again.

Thanks for reporting issues with qt/gtk/themes, it is valuable information. Now I'm hoping somebody will tell me proper way to handle it. (I'm trying to solve it).

Yeah - neither app copes very well with the standard maemo theme when launched without the declaritives. There must be a way around it though :)

Got it ... you can pass a --style=GTK+ as an arguement to the binary eg

bin/quackle --style=GTK+
