Mobile charger voltage

If I understand correctly the Nokia mobile charger for the 770/800 is Nokia Mobile Charger DC-4. The included AC charger is a 5V charger, what is the voltage for the Nokia Mobile Charger DC-4? Is it also 5V or 12V?

The Nokia DC-4 is rated at 12/24 VDC input and 5.7 VDC output. I am reading this directly from the DC-4 label.

From what I remember, the 770's internal voltage regulator is rated to handle up to 12V.

I nearly had a fit when I first saw this thread as I've been using my N95's charger to charge both my 770 and BH-600, imagine my relief when I just checked the charger and found that it was not DC-4 as I first thought but a DC-5X rated at 5V, phew!

Although if indeed the 770's regulator is rated up to 12V as wassabi states I'd of had nothing to worry about, it did give me a bit of a scare mind

Re: Mobile charger voltage

How can I determine if the voltage regulator does handle 12V. I don't seem to find any information on the Nokia site. 5-12 V seems a rather broad range.

I have the schematics here. Check page 6.

I originally was looking at this when I was researching the USB charger mod and I could of sworn there was a regulator on that line before it made it to the charging IC, but I can't find it now. 4V is the operating voltage. 6V from the charger is the typical charging voltage.

What I'm thinking right now is that the nokia provided charger is smarter than I originally thought. To step down the voltage stably enough from a range of 100 - 240 fed to the lithum. I just don't know without cracking open the thing.
