What e-book files are you trying to open?
release info states: # Supported formats are * fb2 e-book format (style attributes are not supported yet). * Html format (tables are not supported). * plucker format (embedded images are supported, tables are not supported). * Palmdoc (aportis doc). * zTxt (Weasel format). * Plain text format. |

OK, it might be a good idea to give everyone who is new to ebooks a few pointers.
Useful links: http://www.gutenberg.org/ free public domain ebooks http://www.teleread.org/blog/ everything ebook related Now FBreader is great for reading plain ascii, html & some xml formats (like fb2), but is unable to read any of the DRM'ed formats such as *.lit etc. And last but not least it cannot read PDF (which by the way is a horrible format for ebooks, fixed page width, height, font, page no. etc) I myself am quite happy with the way fb2 renders content on the 770, It doesn't offer all the features I used to enjoy on my Hiebook, but 225 dpi & proper backlit screen makes more than up for that. Hope this helps... |
To Henry:
Thanks that viewer work OK, for the .chm-files. To Bill: I been trying to get an ebooks to bay, but can't find anything fore sales in format fb2. Will look closer at your suggestions. TTP |
TTP,
Nope nothing worthwile for sale in Fb2, Did spot some content in Russian though. The only reason for using Fb2 is that it's FBreader XML format, which should allow you to convert HTML with the linked illustrations (gif, jpg, png etc) into a single file. *.lit compatibility will never happen, nor is it likely MS will release a MS reader port for the 770, They didn't do it for the Palm so... |
Heureka!
At last I been able to use the FBReader, I downloaded same free ebooks in the .htm format and then over to my 770. Tanks to Bill and the link: http://www.gutenberg.org/ TTP |
What about .djvu format?
and .dvi? (OK, I can go to PDF... then, how is the PDF support in FBReader going?) |
