N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
Hi,
I recently installed easy-debian on my N900 and after doubled the image size using this command: dd if=/dev/zero bs=1M count=1048576 >> /path/to/image.ext3 (i am sure i wrote the command correct [ in /path/to/image.ext3 i entered /home/user/MyDocs/filename........ext2 ]) So after a long w8 to accomplish the command, the n900 suddently did some weird things and closed. Since then i didn't manage to open it. It can't boot, and it continues to loop displaying either yellow or white light in led. I tried removing the battery, boot with charger connected. But nothing. I found the solution (have to reflash), but i want to keep some files (images, contacts). How is that possible? |
Re: N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
May be the crash caused a corrupted kernel in the N900's memory. Did you try to flash just the kernel of the fiasco image. http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...rt_topic.21.29

Yes, they will be kept.
If you do it like this, only kernel: Quote:

Re: N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
Or like this if you do not have the kernel zImage, but have downloaded the firmware image from the Nokia servers
Code:
flasher-3.5 -F <firmware-image> --flash-only=kernel -f -R |
Re: N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
Hi,
i face a problem. when trying flasher -F <firmware-image> --flash-only=kernel -f -R [where on image = RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.203.1_PR_COMBINED_203_ARM] on flasher 3.12 i get "Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2101 NOLO Version 1.4.14 Version of "sw-release": RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1_PR_MR0" Image SW version: RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_MR0" Error: APE Algorithm has to be provided to flash all the subimages. I found an RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1_PR_MR0 for indonisia phones ( mine is EU) The same error apears. On flasher 3.5 i get. A lot of info for the image And then Suitable usb device not found, waiting. What am i doing wrong? |
Re: N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
I found by searching on google that Harmatan flasher does not work for the n900.
I have win 7 x64. The drivers for n900 are installed (only on usb2 slot), which my laptop has only one. Unfortunatelly on usb3.0 the n900 doesnt work. So i will try on a windows xp and i hope it will works. |

Or try from a Linux-Live-Cd, like Debian- or Ubuntu-based. Usually this gives best results.

Re: N900 Can't boot. Need to keep some files from phone
Hi,
i used VMware player to run Windows Xp. I flashed the kernel using: flasher-3.5 -F <firmware-image> --flash-only=kernel -f -R unfortunately that didn't solved the problem. My phone still dont boot. After flashing i got. Found device RX-51, hardware revision 2101 NOLO version 1.4.13 Version of "sw-release": RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1_PR_MR0 Sending kernel image (1705 kb)... 100% (1705 of 0 kb, avg. 1705kb/s) Flashing kerne... done. What else can i do? As for rescueOS after flasher-3.5 -k 2.6.37 -n initrd.img -l -b"rootdelay root=/dev/ram0 the phone boot to rescueOS i run /rescueOS/mass-storage-enable.sh on N900 screen [165.316589] g_file_storage gadget : No serial-number string provided! [165.317871] g_file_storage gadget-lun0 : unable to open backing file: /dev/mmcblk1p2 modprobe: 'kernel/drivers/usb/gadget/g_file_storage.ko' : unknown symbol in module ori invalid parameter. In the PC nothing happens. I dont have prob copying files from storage to mmc. but i do not know how. Also i would like to know where the contacts folder is. |
