Streaming internet radio, specifically asx files

Hi to all.

I recently picked up a 770 for £70, and I'm loving it. I've managed to configure my wifi and email and I've even managed how to suss out a couple of internet radio stations.

And that is where I've got stuck.

I'd like to be able to play two specific radio feeds: Radio Forth http://www.srhdev.co.uk/dynamicstrea...&playertype=wm

and Radio Weej http://www.srhdev.co.uk/dynamicstrea...&playertype=wm or http://www.clyde1.com/goout.asp?u=ht.../clyde1_70.asx

Am I missing something really obvious, or can anyone help me?

Thanks for reading this

In both of those radio streams you have chosen windows media format which is unsupported. That would the the playertype=wm portion of your url.

Try going to that webpage and selecting real media format which is supported on the nokia.

I am outside of the uk i am not allowed to play the stream so i can test this though.

Hi

Did you get yours from Expansys for that price too?!
Getting radio streams is proving difficult for me too - the instructions say find a stream, copy the link and paste it in to Audio Player. Simple.
But the BBC for example, their listen live is either Real Audio (.ram) or WM, neither of which are supported when you paste them in.

Even stranger, I can go to BBC Radio 1 website and their embeded player says I do not have the right plug-in. If I click the symbol in the player again, it plays...but in Video Player.

So far I have only got around this by playing the feed through a 3rd party site called www.radiofeeds.co.uk

So what type of radio feed URL's can be used? And how to I get rid of Accu HitKast?!

thanks

Sam

I believe .ram files are just links to .ra files.
So if you open up a .ram file in a text editor you should see its .ra equivalent.

Their embedded player won't work because theres no plugin to play real media in browser itself but as you figured out, clicking on that icon will launch standalone player where it is supported.

For the most part internet radio streams which end in .pls .m3u .ram should work because they are mp3 or real audio format. You should be able to add to internet radio home applet. Anything ending in .asx is windows media format which probably will not work with the internet radio applet.

You shouldYou should be able to play all the streams at http://shoutcast.com since they are mp3
based playlists (.pls)

theres an icon in the home screen internet radio applet which you can use to launch the full screen player, from there you can manage the streams which appear in the home screen internet radio streams list.

there is a radio stream I like to listen to that only supports windows - asx format. I use orb to solve the problem. You can setup orb to stream the stream very easily. See their literature on how to do it if you are interested.

good luck

This is a magic forum, thanks for all the very helpful replies. I'm no a complete luddite, but this is a steep learning curve for me.

I did learn today that my 770 is capable of playing chess against me whilst listening to the test match, whilst checking my email, which is worth £70 of anyones money
