Java SE Development Kit 7 on N900
 

Read this morning that Oracle have ported Java 7 JDK to ARM.

Headed over to technet and downloaded the Linux ARM tarball from here:

Threw it onto an ext2 partition on my SD card and it runs fine.

Just for a chuckle, installed my alien'd sqldeveloper package that I keep handy for Ubuntu boxes and the only dependancy (other than Java) was bash (which it *doesn't* check as a dep) so having installed bash from the repos, was able to launch sqldeveloper and connected to a remote Oracle DB.

It was like wading through treacle but still amusing to get to the point where I could select sysdate from this remote DB :)

Anyway - I know IcedTea is kicking about already on the repos, but it's nice to have Java 1.7 available on our wee unit.
