N900 No sound from Internal Speaker when making calls
Hello to all, I'm going to try to summarize what happen to me, so hopefully we can figure out a solution for my problem.
Right I'm a proud N900 owner for last 3 years my n900 had an accident felt down on the floor and broke lcd so I spend the last 2 months with my old Nokia E63 which make realize how much I really like my n900! Today the new lcd arrived and I managed to replace just well I was very excited having my n900 back I've checked everything, music and video playback working fine, camera was working, speakers, wifi, accelerometer, everything seemed to work just great I swap my simcard to my n900 and when I tried to make a call I couldn't hear anything accept when it was on loudspeaker or headphones. I've done allot of search on the forum and google for the last 8 hours but a did not have any lucky I know that this was mentioned many times here on TMO but as most of the thread have more than 2 years I thought someone might have a solution for this matter so I'm here now seeking for help. What I've done so far: - I reassemble my n900 at least 5 times - Checked every pin as suggested in the other threads - Reflashed the problem still there? What can I do guys ?! |
Re: N900 No sound from Internal Speaker when making calls
Actually i have the same problem  but i didnt dropped it or anything !
as i mentioned before my N900 sleeps on my bed and im sleeping on the cold floor ( just clearing how much i take care of it ) anyway when i receive a new call sometimes my N900 get stock and it shows "not charging" notification, and i only hear sounds just like when you want to make a dial up connection on the PC ( the alien one ) so i need to jack in headphones to be able to make calls :o THE END Thanks in advance awaiting for replys too :) ./sifo |
Re: N900 No sound from Internal Speaker when making calls
I had the same issue where my call speaker didn't make any noise, I had to use headphones or speakerphone. It was my ribbon cable - only one side of it was severed, resulting in no call speaker, plus my activity/notification LED did not work. Replacing the flex cable may do the trick, but if you're ordering and replacing that, you may as well order and replace the call speaker too.
PS: my ribbon got torn more after that, which resulted in my display not working, but touch input was still working |

Re: N900 No sound from Internal Speaker when making calls
I had the same issue with an old N900. I eventually fixed the issue, but broke the screen whilst doing it :(
In my case, it was a matter of the earpiece speaker not correctly touching the contact. There are 2 (from memory) legs that you need to expand a bit further, as these were not touching the pads on the circuit board. The problem however, is that accessing this area is a *****, and I cracked my screen in the process. Calls did work however... |
