VNC working on WLAN but not through GPRS
Hy,
I am root ,I was able using vnc server/viewer to connect and operate the other part using my own WLAN but not throug a intrnet connection using a mobile. Router ports open... Ah , and how can I make right click (from mouse) in vnc?:) What do I do wrong? Thanks, bitrate |
Re: VNC working on WLAN but not through GPRS
I think it's a bandwidth issue. VNC requires a lot of bandwidth to function, and I'm sure gprs does not have nearly enough for it. I also doubt that EDGE, EV-DO or even HSDPA would have enough bandwidth to make use of VNC too well.

(Presumably you're not using the LAN IP address when connecting with the phone...) Right click is the Zoom-in button, I think. |
Re: VNC working on WLAN but not through GPRS
does the nokia vnc client allow you to set compression and encoding schemes? try this:
vncviewer -quality 2 -compresslevel 6 -encodings "tight copyrect CoRRE myserver |

Re: VNC working on WLAN but not through GPRS
If this - vnc through mobile gprs- is not working due to bandwidth, then is a bad news , becouse a lot of other progr are not ported, wine is not working on arm processors , well...this was the only way to control other WIN applications; when can we hope for a good news / improvement from Nokia or somebody else regarding this issues- win port thingy progr?

Re: VNC working on WLAN but not through GPRS
I find it comical that a user with a handle of bitrate can't figure out that trying to push bitmaps over a high latency, low bandwidth connection might not work very well. Oh, and bitrate, if you bought your 770/N800 expecting Nokia to port windows applications to it, then can I have a puff of whatever you are smoking, cause it is positively hallucinogenic?
Since you have provided me with some entertainment, here is some non-sarcastic semi-useful advice. If you absolutely have to run windows applications "on" your tablet, I suggest using Remote Desktop. RDP interacts more directly and efficiently with windows than VNC and offers a much more fluid experience over low bandwidth connection. Now if only we could get a NX client... |
