Hildon-home keeps crashing unless the phone is connected as mass storage
 

I am not the first with this issue, as it seems (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=85280, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=66537). I was installing some software and pressed ctrl-c and after reboot, desktop icons are not displayed and hildon-home keeps restarting (browser bookmarks and operator name keep flashing once every couple of seconds). Unless I plug the phone onto USB and connect it as mass storage, it keeps rebooting.

However, when it is mass storage, I have SSH access. i found out that hildon-home keeps restarting and that when run manually, it ends with segmentation fault. U run thumb2 packages, but I am not sure it if is related. Is there a way to somehow reset the hildon-home settings (like desktop and the like)? I tried reinstalling it and purging it but that did not help.

Also, is there a way to backup contacts and the like when phone is connected over USB? Backup application keeps crashing on me now.
