All other OS on the n900 besides maemo fremantle will have significant shortcomings in one or other area, be it phone, messaging, power management or app provisioning or indeed, in overall performance. They will not perform as well as on 'native' platforms. Folk run them because it's fun and because they value one or other function that they do adequately on the n900.
