Nokia N9 showing 3.91GB avaible on a 16gb device
Hello everyone,
I have a 16gb N9 but when I connect this device to my computer windows or linux both show me that the memory is only 3.91GB. http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/4797/spacem.png I would like to add around 10gb of music but I can't because it windows tell me that the device don't have the space. How could I 'fix' my N9 so that the hard drive is around 16gb how it normally should be ? Thank you very much PS: yes I have installed nitdroid but I don't use it anymore. |

I tried formatting the F: drive but no success. It tells me it can format up to 3.91gb

Re: Nokia N9 showing 3.91GB avaible on a 16gb device
Could you post the output of from terminal as root:
[code]df -ahm[code] It would help in finding your partitions. Secondly, N9 16GB means 4GB used for rootfs, 2GB for userfs and 9+GB for your ~/MyDocs (EMMC) which is what should be seen when connected via USB. |
Re: Nokia N9 showing 3.91GB avaible on a 16gb device
Thank you for the answer.
Well yeah like you said there is still a problem: 16gb-4(rootfs)-2(userf) != 4 :) output: Code:
system Size Used Available Use% Mounted on |
Re: Nokia N9 showing 3.91GB avaible on a 16gb device
/dev/mmcblk0p3
does this mean you have 2 other partitions? it should be /dev/mmcblk0p1 |
Possibly ;) I don't know. I had trouble removing Nemo ... (possibly I did not remove the partition)
Do you think I can delete them safely ? My N9 is lagging all the time, vibration doesn't work. Can I format everything have back my 10gb of free space and flash it with harmattan to have a fresh start ? |

yes, if you flash everything will be fine but there should be a way to bo ot without flashing

Re: Nokia N9 showing 3.91GB avaible on a 16gb device
Ah, so you had Nemo on your device.
That explains the loss of space; When you install nemo it will split a part of your mmcblk0p1 to create a new partition number 4 where the Nemo filesyste is created. With command "/sbin/sfdisk -l" as devel-su you can see the full pertition details... The way that your setup looks is something like this: /dev/mmcblk0p1 4G (MyDocs) /dev/mmcblk0p4 4G (Nemo) /dev/mmcblk0p2 4G (root) /dev/mmcblk0p3 2G (home) Now, what you can do, is back up your existing data from MyDocs (if you have something you want to keep, that is), and repartition the mmcblk so that you remove the mmcblk0p4 partition and grow back the mmcblk0p1 to the full size. Then reformat the new mmcblk0p1 partition and restore backup. |
