N900 Not Booting & Problems
Hello Everyone!
I installed the Mobile Hotspot Utility. Needless to say it didn't work on my iPod, although it connected it wouldn't let me check emails, browse the web, etc... After running it for the first time the system became slow so I turned it off by pressing the power button. Now the phone won't go past the White Nokia screen when I turn it on (the white LED goes on for a couple seconds and then loads this screen) then turns off. Now I can't even charge it because it shows a dark screen with the Nokia logo when plugged into the wall socket and keeps vibrating every minute as if it's being connected again (no flashing orange LED as used to be). I know I will probably have to reflash, although I haven't done a backup of my conversations, etc... in a while and know I will probably loose them. I use a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and heard about compatibility issues with the Flasher utility, is it better to use that or the Nokia Suite one? The other issues I have been having with the phone before it died on me was: Sometimes the battery dies and when I change it and try to start it again, the LCD screen won't go on, so I have to remove the battery to kind of reset it, and then turn it on again. Has anyone else had this issue? Anyway, what if the reflash doesn't work and is there any way to try to reset it without reflashing? I won't have internet access when I get home as I use the device to tether to my computer and the connection speed is quite fast 3.5G, etc... I really need this up and running as it's my "modem" at home.... Let me know as soon as someone can before I leave the office if possible. Thank you!:o |
Re: N900 Not Booting & Problems
the flasher is working under 64 bit enviroment . read the wiki instructions , but first try to flash only the kernel ,
if fails to boot do a complete reflash(vanilla + firmware) |
Re: N900 Not Booting & Problems
Kindly reply someone...I'm trying to flash my N900 for the past 1 month...I followed everything as in maemo.wiki. first vanilla,then combined..combine first,then vanilla. vanilla in between and so..But vanilla is always struck at 20%.
I have 4 combined file images as follows RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM -2011 update RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM -global latest RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2.004_PR_COMBINED_004_ARM - India latest RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM -global third I have vanilla file images RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM -older RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM -latest all combined images are flashing fully...but whenever i try to flash vanilla in whatever order or combination, it is struck at 20 % as shown below for example, flashing with global Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. Also PLEASE try to attach your logs in a text file as opposed to just pasting them, otherwise everyone that quotes your comment and your comment end up filling pages of repeated unnecessary junk :) EDIT: Also check that the file you downloaded is not corrupt. |

its not written anywhere in wiki that you nedd to remove battery after just flashing rootfs image. C:\Program Files\maemo\flasher-3.5>flasher-3.5 -F RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_C OMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f after its done. Re: N900 Not Booting & Problems
You should try to charge your battery full before to start this process. Because even if connected through USB, it is not garanteed that it has enough power.
Also, there is something i don't understand, why do you say your computer is Win7 AMD64 if in your cmd console, it is written: Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp. ?? Also, are you sure about the zone firmware version you downloaded? You should maybe try to download it again if it maybe is corrupted. Another thing i would try, is to remove beloved N900 from device manager when it is connected, tick the "remove driver" options and restart installation process from scratch |

Re: N900 Not Booting & Problems
@Legendracer
Also, next time you have a problem, you should create your own tread and not hijack the one of someone else... PS:Hold on, i am searching for my Win AMD64 flash process |
