let's try to upgrade the firmware...
 

after a little more than 2 two years, I guess there are a lot of upgrades to install into this little toy...
I got this after running uname -a

how many firmwares from ago two years until now were released and by the which start?

since ago a month I have my new N900 buyed at ebay and now is time to push some upgrades...

Latest FIASCO is PR1.3 RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM

Latest EMMC is RX-51_2009SE_10.2010.13-2.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM

Once you have the flashed the above two following instructions here, CSSU is pretty recommended. You may want to choose CSSU-Testing if you are willing to experiment a bit and then choose CSSU-Thumb which speeds up the N900 tremendously.

Thanks a lot for your valious answer, TheDead1440. I would like to know if those firmware must be installed as listed? no need for previous firmware?
Regarding to CSSU-Thumb, is an overclocking thing or something like that?

what should I notice after installing those firmware?

Those are the latest firmwares so yes you don't need any previous firmwares. Download those 2 images and follow the instructions on the wiki page to flash them.

You will simply be updated to the latest version when you upgrade firmware. Search around for PR1.3 changelog.

CSSU-Thumb is explained in the thread I linked too; its not an over-clock but a re-compilation of apps and libraries using the Thumn2 instruction set which makes them smaller in size compared to how they were previously compiled hence improving performance of an ageing device quite a bit ;)
