an e-bay charger does not charge my n900 but has no problems with my kindle

I bought this charger: http://www.ebay.com/itm/EU-Plug-5V-2...E:L:OC:FR:3160 and it charges my Kindle Paperwhite just fine. However, it does not charge my N900. When I plug it in, it just says in dmesg:

Code:

[ 4560.918914] rx51_set_wallcharger (connected = 0)
[ 4562.895599] rx51_detect_wallcharger (the_musb = cf0a80f0)
[ 4562.895629] musb_charger_detect (enabled = 1)
[ 4562.911224] rx51_set_wallcharger (connected = 0)

Any ideas what to do about this problem? My n900 charges from a computer just fine (I need to ask somebody to see whether other wall charges work or not).

I fixed the same situation on car charger by connecting pins 2 and 3 together in the charger. There is a topic somewhere about this issue.

That will be this: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38230
Do I understand it correctly that I would have to have some tools to make this? IE. it is not solvable by brute force only.

You may be able to find a small pass-through adapter on e-bay or meritline to do this without altering your current charger. Just a thought. :)

Hm, I thought I would charge it faster but it seems it drains only 950mhz anyway so I think I will buy an ordinary charger from ebay. http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=128

Somewhere along here is an overview (or link) about the typical stunts manufacturers take to check for (different/their own make) chargers and accessories.
Check f.e. point "[6] The chargers use specific voltages".

Oh, I see. Thanks for the link. And the counterfeit chargers are pretty bad too. Oh well, at least now I know what not to buy and I will probably buy something working in a local shop.
