Multiboot (power kernel) boot problem [with no USB]
I basically followed this
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ghlight=u-boot but forgot to install the image kernel-power-bootimg Now the phone shows no OS options at boot, '0' also obviously consequently doesn't work. The hardware problem is that the stupid USB is broken. I did the multi boot hoping that atleast nemo would work (perhaps it works only with u-boot) but it didn't boot from the mmc. I have read in the forum that if i can change the symlinks or copy the aforesaid image in the rootfs things can be fixed. SO here's the question(s?) Can I access the root memory somehow without booting and without a USB port? Can I use the mmc card to boot some OS so I can fix this? Help's appreciated. |
Re: Multiboot (power kernel) boot problem [with no USB]
I greatly encourage you to start from scratch and use U-boot, instead. kernel-power dropped support for multiboot some time ago (.item file isn't multiboot-compliant anymore), so you would end up with problems, even if you *wouldn't* forget to install bootimg.
Anyway, u-boot is much better solution than multiboot, and can be considered replacement for all intents and purposes (not to mention that u-boot is capable of many others things, too - but, even if you don't care, it for sure can do everything multiboot offered you, and does it better). /Estel |
Re: Multiboot (power kernel) boot problem [with no USB]
is there a way to do that without the USB port?

Re: Multiboot (power kernel) boot problem [with no USB]
With u-boot, you could insert microSD card with u-boot friendly kernel image, and use u-boot console mode to load kernel from microSD... For multiboot lacking proper pre-configuration, I'm afraid, that you're screwed, and USB repair is your only option (unless I've forget about something, and there will be someone to correct me).
