Starting a UI-Texteditor as root
Hello,
is it possible to start an GUI-Texteditor, such as "MeeTxtEdit", as root? So that a can edit and save files in /usr/bin. I tried it with "vi" in the terminal, but I am not good in recognizing shortcuts. Maybe there is an other Editor with the Option: "start as root". Please dont start a Discussion about the Power of Vi or Emacs, because I know they are very mighty. But mighty Editors need responsible Users. And I´m not such a User ;-) Thanks in advance, Roland |
Re: Starting a UI-Texteditor as root
Theres option in N9QT to give root acces to few text editors.
Tweak:H,3 Options: 1. Add Root access to KHTSimpleText 2. Add Root access to Redak 3. Add Root access to TxPad |

thank you for your reply. I have 2 Questions: how do I add Root access to these Programs? what means "Tweak:H,3" in your PostThanks in advance, Roland |
You can install opensudo, add NOPASSWD rule to executables you want, and then just clone shortcut with sudo prefix in Exec line.
everything can be googled, even N9QT and Tweak. |
