Modified Hildon Desktop

Hello community...
I run Nokia 900 Maemo 5
Version 20.2010.36-2.205.1
Is there a 'Modified Hildon Desktop' version for this?
If so, where???

I thought I might get that reply:):)
Warning, this is going to be a long reply.
Question 1:- Does CSSU give me "Modified Hildon Desktop" with excess of 4 'Desktop Views'? Please dont ask why I need more than four, I JUST DO!
If answer to first question is "no" then no need read any further;)
Ok, hear goes, I run two 'almost new' N900's. They are absolutely
100% reliable but have been heavily modified by me.
The easy stuff is all the 'non-standard' applications I have installed, some of which I cant even remember where I got them from, even worse, some may not be available.
Then, there is my 'desktop view's environment. That's the easy stuff.
I have boot/backup menu installed,
I have 'power kernel installed.
I have my own 'performance tuning' installed, cant remember where I put it...'
I have a modified /etc/systemui/systemui.xml
I have a whole load of shell scripts in
/usr/local/sbin
I have a whole lot of my own *.desktops in
/usr/share/applications/hildon/
I have a whole lot of my own *.png in
/opt/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/hildon/
I have my own stuff in /etc/init.d event.d ssh sshd /root/ .... etc etc, the list is bloody endless. This is just the stuff I CAN remember..
All of this stuff has evolved over the last four years that I have had a succession of these marvellous devices. They make them an absolute dream to use. They are my delight! I can do absolutely anything I want to do with a mobile device, I can control my home entertainment system, either locally, or remotely, including recording TV programs, playing my media either locally or at home, all this done by comunicating my RasPI's via a touch of a desktop icon. Live UK radio/tv from my RasPi's when I am in Thailand...Bloody hell, I can even make 'phone calls with them!!
They are my finest possessions! Now, convince me I need to throw all of this away & install a version of Maemo I know nothing about with the likelyhood of not being able to resore my current prefect setup.....

If someone can, please tell me how to do it.....

Set 9 Desktops
Code:

gconftool -s  /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/views/active -t list --list-type int [1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9]
Set back to 4 Desktops
Code:

gconftool -s  /apps/osso/hildon-desktop/views/active -t list --list-type int [1,2,3,4]

Remember, I don't have CSSU installed, refer back to previous posting, need convincing etc...

Install CSSU and do the above.
You will then have an extra 5 black desktops that you can modify

CSSU shouldn't effect much of the stuff you mention.
Anyway just do a backup with backupmenu and restore what you have if CSSU breaks something.

Hello, please forgive me, I know you are trying to be helpful.....
I have been pondering for a while about installing CSSU, the thought of it scares me to death....:eek:

No need to be scared. I did it the first time more than a year ago when most of the info on the CSSU page did not make anym sense to me and yet I managed without a hitch. I've done it at least 3 more times since then, always without any problem.

PS
While you are at it, you may as well go for CSSU-Thumb. It should give you an additional boost by using slightly less RAM.

Thinking of giving it a go....
One thing that I would find useful is a comprehensive list of libraries that CSSU hits, if there is such a thing. I could use this to check if I have anything of my own or I have changed in those libs. Can then back up seperately...

I have a spare ('communication error' fault) machine to have a go at....

You'll have to look through the CSSU Changelog's
