Nokia ending support for MeeGo and Symbian applications
 
Just got an e-mail from Nokia's developer support team, it looks like they're not willing to allow developers to continue distributing MeeGo or Symbian applications through the Ovi Store.

From the email:

If you have Symbian and MeeGo content in the Nokia Store, it will continue to be available for download to customers, and you will continue to receive download and revenue reports as well as payouts for downloaded content. However, starting January 1, 2014, you will no longer be able to publish any new content or update existing content for Symbian and MeeGo.
Guess I'd better hurry up and try to get my last couple of MeeGo projects released before the deadline...

Only thing I am worried is CuteTube. It needs updates often and I cant live without it. :(

Will they kill Maemo5 store upload too? I wanted to push a MeeCoLay doantion package but I'm one year too young :(

atleast we Maemo users are not affected by it. only marmistrz as he was planning something. can't you people create repos for N9 also like extras for N900 ?

Elleo, I hope one of your projects is fbreader with better ui ;)

I hope that openrepos client will be ready by then and all devs are aware of it to move their stuffs over.

This is most likely standard procedure for End of Life products, as sad as it might sound. It's time to get on the boat and search for adventures in the open ocean! :)
