Troubleshooting wifi
Hey all,
I'm thinking I have a problem with my wifi, and would like some help troubleshooting it. It normally autoconnects to the wireless access point in my house, and I noticed that it had not connected in a while. (I think I pulled up a web page a couple of nights ago). I figured my access point had burped, so I went and reset it. However, the N900 still would not connect. I get: Code:
Network connection error. Now having said that, my understanding wifi and the bluetooth subsystems share the same antenna. Bluetooth is working fine, I am able to pair with my bluetooth headset. I also took the N900 to the physical location of the access point in my basement, and tried to connect from within an arm's length of the access point (WRT54GL). It did not see any access points, let alone the one a foot away. Meanwhile, my N810 is connected fine and I am able to access it over wifi. I hope someone has suggestions. Any suggestions on how to fix (or at least troubleshoot) this? Thanks, --vr |
Re: Troubleshooting wifi
That sounds familiar. Like I've read something like that before.
Ahh, perhaps I have! N900 - WiFi Network Connection Error? n900 wifi problem (<-- start here and follow anthonie's advice) My n900 cant find any available WLAN [N900] issues with wlan (now after reboot device warm/poor battery) problems with wifi Nokia N900 Wifi Issues Unable to connect to wireless Probably fried Wi-Fi chip - possible to diagnose? N900 Wifi is dead Wifi module in pain The troubleshooting advice seems to always follow the same pattern: ifconfig, dmesg, lsmod, modprobe. I would also try, Code:
ls -l /lib/modules/`uname -r`/wl* |

Re: Troubleshooting wifi
whenever I have had trouble, reloading the wl12xx module always fixes it.
modprobe -r wl12xx modprobe wl12xx Only putting this here as a reboot, weirdly, didnt solve my issue either... |
