About C++ compiler

Can I install a g++ 4.8+ compiler into Sailfish?

Did someone of you try it?

g++ 4.8 is present in Mer devel branch, so if you build against that, it should be possible:

What Mer branch is Sailfish based on? C++11 would be nice to have indeed.

4.6.4 is in the repos. Did not try to get a newer one...

Toolchain upgrades are a bit scary. But we most likely won't be on 4.6 forever.

Yeap. The good thing about g++ 4.8 is that implements all the C++11 features.

As a side question, how about llvm, clang and Rust for example?

Tested on Sailfish @ N9 port, to install gcc/g++ 4.6.4 on Sailfish, use Terminal :
$ pkcon install gcc gcc-c++
gcc/g++ compiled well my C/C++ benchmark tests, which show a similar running performance on MeeGo Harmattan @ Nokia N9.
