To pair a treo650 w 770 step by step
770 2007He boot from flash and 2006OS boot from MMC
_______________________________________________ It is the same for either 2007He or 2006OS 1) On treo650, BT/On, discoverable/Yes, Dial-up Network/On > "You will not be able ....", press OK 2) On 770, menu/Tools/Controlpanel/Phone/New (found your treo) select your treo, remember the pairing code, press OK on the 770, and your treo should now ask for the pairing code after you press OK on the 770, enter the same pairing code on your treo and pairing complete. Press Details, phone details should now show: Phone name: your treo device name, phone type: phone, Cell type: CDMA, DUN: Yes, File tx: No, SIM: No, BT address: bla bla bla 3) On 770: menu/Tools/Controlpanel/Tools/Mobile op setup wizard, pick USA, Alltel, Finish. 4) On 770: Controlpanel/Connectivity/Connections and select Phone connection, New/enter a name for this connections, for example treo1, and select Data Call, not Packet data/Next. DUN#777, User Name and password, get it from your cellphone plan, then /Finish. I do not know anything about the Advanced menu. And you are done. No hacking, no PdaNet. Post if question/problems. It took me a whole weekend from Friday 5pm to Sunday 5pm. Hope this save you some work. Enjoy, Bun:) |
Re: To pair a treo650 w 770 step by step
After you have successful paired the treo and connected once, and it gives "fail to connect" again, you can try to turn the BT on the treo on and off and see whether that does the trick. If not, you will have to delete the pair from your 770 and re-pair the two again and that will work. Why is that, dont know. Somebody knows? Comments? Suggestions?

To delete and re-pair your BT phone sometimes may be the only step that can make the inet work, if you are running 2006OS. While the BT works better, I guess, in the 2007He, it just wake up the hibernated phone, no need to delete and re-pair partnership. Another reason to upgrade.

Re: To pair a treo650 w 770 step by step
Wow, this took a long time and alot of trial and error to get to work, but finally I got it!
I'm going to post some info in the hope it may help someone else. My cell phone provider was NOT listed in the mobile operater choices so I picked one (AT & T) and edited it. On the pda, under Preferences/network, I copied the APN. The username and password are there, too, but the password is not readily accesible, if you don't know it you may have to call your provider. I left the dialup number the same as it was and it may just be luck, but that worked. Once I got all that set up I got a fail to connect message. Luckily, I found this thread that advised turning your treo off and let the 770 wake it. It worked! On mine, if I get a connect sound (sort of a three note thing) then the connection will fail. If it connects silently it works. I do have to turn the BT on and off sometimes to make it work. So, if you don't immediatly get a connection, don't assume it's your settings. |

I say throw away the Treo and get something that is 3G compatible. I had no end of problems with it and hacking it only prolonged the agony. Pretty much palm is just about dead until they discover how to make a phone with simultaneous voice/data using palm os.

The treo is the only phone that I have ever had that I still liked a year later. I am very happy with it's capabilities. Maybe there are better options out there, but I'm sticking up for my 650.
