n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

hi all,

nice to be here and i hope, somebody can help me.
i'm using n9 with german telekom d1 without any problems.

now my girlfriend tries to use n9 with base/eplus.
after booting n9, we can send one mms most of times.
but after the second mms, the blue light show, trying to connect. the blue 3g icon flashes and flashes, but nothing happens.
status of internet says no connection, but the 3g icon flashes also.

we have to reboot the phone and it works most one time.

it should be a problem with base/eplus, but i have no idea.

could somebody help me or giving me an idea, please.
its an nokia n9 with pr1.3 (40.2012.21-3_pr_009)

thanks a lot for answer,
ronny

Re: n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

So you mean, the same device works OK with a simcard of one operator and fails with the simcard of another operator?

I'd say you probably get no help from here, it seems to be a problem with the operator, the subscription or the physical simcard.

Re: n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

Are the settings for MMS and Internet are correct? Maybe the signal is poor, so that the N9 can not connect to the 3G network all the time and falls back to 2G?

Re: n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

hi an thank,

i think settings are correct, cause most it works one or two time.
i also thought about the signel, but the problem is on different places and the n9 does not fall back to 2g.
very strange is, that it does not cut the try of connecting.
the blue 3g led flashes all the time and did not stop-

thanks a lot for help,
ronny

Maybe it's a faulty sim? Does it properly conect when you run it in 3G only?

I personaly would go to a E-Plus or Base shop and tell them about the issue. Maybe they can help or even they have seen a N9 once in their life ;)

I am afraid you are doomed. :(
E-Plus (together with O2) is well known to not care about such specific customer problems. Even more as the N9 is really exclusive (at least for them, maybe they even do not know this device at all ;)).
And we cannot help you as it is a problem of network/operator with this device.

One possible workaround (instead of reboot):
enable developer-mode, open x-terminal, type
devel-su (followed by the root password: rootme)
and type
/sbin/initctl restart xsession/icd2

Maybe it helps, maybe not.
If yes the thread about ProfileMatic is worth to read, allowing you to automate this maybe.

another idea/question (just a shot in the dark, as I do not use this service):
you wrote it works most often one time. Does it work more often sometimes? Were you connected already to 2G/3G network? Maybe internet and/or MMS settings do not like each other?

Re: n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

hi and thanks ... i have more or less the same feeling ...

but, now i found out, that one of my n9 has a firmware _005, asia/pacific and my other _009 (europe)
actually it looks like the 005 seems to work ... im allready in testing.

does anybody has an idea, or will i need time to run into the same problem?
is it possible to go from 009 to 005 ... im in reading a lot of internet stuff. most of the links to firmware images are not working anymore.

to all, thanks a lot for the reply and help. great forum.

Regardless of what firmaware you have, "normal basic operation" should always work on the devices, and normal basic operation includes things like MMS and 3G.

Re: n9 and mms/internet reconnect impossible

No, you can not get from a 009 to a 005 firmware. You can only flash firmwares with higher numbers.
