Remove/disable start-up handshake video

Hi all,

I've been trying to search for a way to remove the Nokia handshake video whenever n900 starts, but it seems my attempts have been frustrated!

There's a lot of advice on how to change the video, but I simply want to remove it.

For removal, people sometimes suggest installing bootscreen from extras devel. However, I don't think it's there anymore. And besides, it seems to work only if you want to change it, but to remove, the video just pops back with this program: http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Maem...ng/td-p/691301

Next, I tried this method: http://gunnicom.wordpress.com/2011/1...on-nokia-n900/
I gained root access through rootsh, and wrote
vi edit /etc/hildon-welcome.d/default.conf
this opened an empty file, so I take it this file is no longer there.

So, in summary, how to disable shaking hands, but especially the sound?

Haha, nice one, thanks! Shame on me, not remembering this, quite basic thing about linux. :)

This one I ended up using, and after rebooting once I like it, thank you.

This is an interesting page, i don't think I ever found it before.

Still quite new with the phone, while going through The Perfect Setup I noticed the big list of unnecessary packages, but can't for the life of me copy/paste with microb! When I swipe from the left of the screen, nothing happens. When I swipe from the right side, it brings up the history as expected.

Click edit on the wiki section, select, copy and paste as required.
Please then exit the wiki page without damaging or deleting any information.

Try it once more.
It definitely works and then you'll love it!
Also: try it on the bottom left part (below earset) and swipe in fast! Then push SHIFT, select via finger, and do CTRL-c.

Okay, now I got it, thanks! I guess I compared it too much on the history gesture, which pops up instantly and every time, whereas for this cursor to pop up I need several attempts indeed. A very nice functionality, and the phone itself, truly a modern engineering masterpiece. :)
