DragonFear ALPHA available for download
It's playable, but at a bare minimum at the current time. It's released as GPL V2.
This demo is NOT for the non-technical. If you install it, you may just have to manually remove some of the media files later before a finished copy of the game will work. http://tony.maro.net/ossramblings/dragonfear.php Please, report back any crashes, but don't bother reporting "function X doesn't work" because a LOT of function X's don't work. Things you can try out: Auto-download of required media files from the Internet Kinetic scrolling menu navigation Pop-up pygame keyboard Character Generation New game creation (it asks for what game to start but won't let you choose one - don't worry.) Movement through the map (very small map I hard coded) Very basic combat, but no spells or magic items View your character's inventory with the fullscreen toggle button Return to the menu with the Menu button (of all things!) Music volume dims with the screen, and turns off with the screen Things that don't work (yet): Pretty much everything else. Might only work properly on the Nokia n800. I've got to rewrite some of the code for downloading the media, and it may be incompatible with the 770 in it's current state. |
Re: DragonFear ALPHA available for download
Successful install on my N800 running the newest firmware.
Downloaded the graphics pack to my external SDHC just fine. So far so good...diggin' the graphics though the music is kind of weird. Under "Choose game" there's no game to choose. Hitting cancel takes you to the "Choose your Gender" screen. Savegame seems to be broken although I can load several "cybermage" savegames that seemed to have been rolled up when you packaged the DEB file? But this is looking like a fantastic game so far! The music is actually pretty good. Reminds me of the old 80s classics with updated graphics and sound. Killed my first rabid rat. It's "rabid" by the way, not "rabbid". |
Load/save are not functional. The load games list was just me testing the scrolling

And about rabid.. I never claimed to be a good speler ;-) Everything you mention was as I expected in this version. |
