List of opened windows

Hi guys,
I would like to automatize a phone reboot. My intention is to execute it weekly in the night.

But I need to ensure that I will not lost data in some opened application.

Is there a way to retrieve the list of the opened windows (I refer to the accessible windows pressing the task-bar corner)?

In that way I will execute the reboot only if there aren't opened applications.

_NET_CLIENT_LIST is what you looking for or you can use wmctrl.

It might be a better idea to focus on active processes, not windows. Maybe?

How do you reboot? I for example write in the command line "reboot" but the phone simply shutdown, so I have to manually start it.

@malakai
I guess you are on KP (power kernel) or CSSU?
Then this is known behaviour. Sometimes reboot sometimes shutdown,

Yes I'm on CSSU Stable, but for me it always shutdown, never rebooted. Weird...

I have 2 phones one with CSSU stable and another with CSSU thumb2: for both sometimes the "sudo reboot" doesn't work. Normally it is worst to have the USB charger cable connected.
Sincerely it is passed much time from the last non-reboot and shutdown only.
