How to connect to public wifi hotspot with ssh port-forwarding?
I was reading a tutorial for safe connection when using public wifi hotspots in Full Circle Magazine issue n°37 http://fullcirclemagazine.org/issue-37/
the tutorial is in Command&Conquer section. It shows how to connect to your ssh server, so all the data is encrypted and the public wifi is used just as link to your home server. all traffic forwarded to port 8080 with Code:
ssh -D 8080 your_username@your_server_ip so,what to do? can we just go to the N900 Settings->Network Settings->Connections-> choose the wifi hotspot connection->Modify and in Advanced, choose: Use proxy? |
Re: How to connect to public wifi hotspot with ssh port-forwarding?
Yes.
Here is an example with modest, should be similar. Keep in mind that proxy setting in wifi settings are not system wide. |

what is the closest way to a system wide settings that forward the most traffic to ssh server? |
Re: How to connect to public wifi hotspot with ssh port-forwarding?
You need a local proxy on N900, and proxy through that.
