Google Earth's third party support is shutting down
So, does this mean that many great apps using google map services in N900, N9 and Jolla will stop working, right?
http://www.engadget.com/2014/12/15/g...rt-going-away/ It is really, really sad. I am using several apps that to my understand are using Google earths services. EasyStreet view, Meego/Jollaopas, Omat pysäkit to name a few... Actually majority on any programs giving you public info somehow related to maps seem to be affected. Or is google maps a totally different api? I hope I am greatly wrong. Of course services like OpenStreet maps are there, but how many old apps will be updated, I wonder... |
Re: Google Earth's third party support is shutting down

Re: Google Earth's third party support is shutting down
Am I wrong to assume that Google Earth does not mean Google Maps support?

Still, knowing Google, it is only a matter of time until they break one of the APIs modRana actually is using. :) For example both the local search and routing APIs already had to be fixed/switched once. |
Re: Google Earth's third party support is shutting down
Anyway of switching to something other than Google API's?

Re: Google Earth's third party support is shutting down
Yeah, an offline routing with auto-rerouting would be kewl ;)

One reason more to avoid huge companies and their proprietary services....
