You MAYNOT have to un-pair or re-pair your paired BT device....

The way I use my bt does NOT make sense. I have to use it the way they can be use and there is NO logic, and no reason whatsoever.

On my treo, I have to turn off the treo, and use the 770 to wake up the treo bt phone, and the phone will pair and work without a glitch. However, if the treo is ON, the 770 will NOT be able to find the treo and will have to delete the pairing and re-pair (what a funny word) and it will then work. For good or worse, this is THE ONLY WAY I can reproducibly make the bt phone work. I have tried more than several other combination, none of them work, the 770 and the treo will keep saying 'paired' but the 770 will say "there is a problem in the internet connection. retry or not"

On the Maemo mapper, it is the other way round. You should NOT turned on the bt on the 770 via the CTRL panel first. If you did, again, the 770 and your GPS will appear "paired" but the mapper will NEVER catch on with the GPS. Instead, you turned on the bt GPS before you load the mapper, and once the mapper is loaded, it will find the GPS and pair and work without a glitch. Or you should exit mapper with GPS 'enable' unchecked, that will also work fine. In this aspect, the mapper is slightly more forgiven. If you turned on the bt device on your 770 first, They will either wake up your other bt device (like my treo) or confused and i spent hours and hours still CANNOT make the GPS 'worked' with mapper (though the 770 keep saying the GPS is paired). Remember, this is the same combination and setting that was working hours ago before I tunred off the 770. Finally I have to un-pair the GPS and re-pair again. Of course, now I know, DO NOT turn on the BT via the CTRL panel or via anything on the 770, just let the mapper find your BT GPS (of course, you turned on your GPS bt first).

I learned the above through many hours of trial and error. There is no logic to the bt device/phone. It is very frustrating that you know the setting and combination worked the last time you turned the 770 off, but now it does not work because of the sequence the BT was turned on or off. Again, why it is SOOOOOOOOO rigid, that one has to un-pair and re-pair. I search this forum, that the proposed solution of "resolving a once working paired BT device" is to un-pair and re-pair. If you find out the patern of turning the BT, which goes first, it will work WITHOUT A GLITCH. I would like you to try out what I listed above and see whether that is a universal patern, especially with regard to other bt phones or device that is commonly used with the 770(mine is a palm treo 650). Please post your experience the way YOU HAVE IT WORKED or NOT WORKED everytime. Or maybe some of the guru can explain the logic behind this or the lack of logic.
