Problems installing LxDoom
Hello,
Could someone please point me in the right direction. I am trying to Install LxDoom and keep getting an error message. I understand it is dependent on the file maemo-games-startup_0.2.0_arm.deb. When I click on this (in a browser), it brings up the Install option and when I click install, I get the following error: Unable to Install. Package is incompaible with current software I am getting the .deb files from here: http://www.home.unix-ag.org/simon/fi...nothing-mirror Same problem occurs when I try to install the lxcoom_1.4.2_arm.deb package I am currently using versiim 3.2006.49-2 I have the following packages configured in Application Catalog: http:catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified http:catalogue.tabletee.nokia.com/non-certified http://repository.maemo.org mistral free http://repository.maemo.org mistral games I tried installing when booting off the mmc card, as well as the flash. Any help would be appreciated. I've played around with this for a few days now and am ruunning out of things to try. Thanks! Any help would be appreciated |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
Well, I just reset it back (I think) using factory default wizard and still getting the same problem.
Do I need a hacked version 2007? Thanks. |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
u can install it instead through the application manager. click on install new apps. I did this and doom was there and installed by itself.
easier than using the .deb file. I have 2 nokia.com repositories (certified and non- certified) in my catalog, and doom was there to install for me. click on tools>app. catalog in the apple manager program. |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
also, I run doom on OS 06 - u dont need hacked 07

Re: Problems installing LxDoom
I'm having similar issues to Jabba and am also running 3.2006.49-2.
I've tried installing lxdoom, crazyparking and a few other games that are dependant upon maemo-games-startup. If I install from http://maemo.org/downloads/product/doom/ it will install the 1.4.5 version of lxdoom for me. The opening screen with a "Play" button will appear but will do nothing when you push it. If I run lxdoom from the command line it tells me that libshadow is missing. Other maemo-games-startup dependant games are similar except for the libshadow comment on the command line. I've tried installing maemo-games-startup from different repositories but either it won't load or will corrupt the games such that strange text appears in the place of the word "Play" on the play button. I don't recall which versions I used but I may have mixed and matched poorly! For those that have it running (nosam or whomever else might be browsing), is it running on version 3.2006.49-2 of the OS, and if so did you load any prerequisites (eg maemo-games-startup, maemo-games-startup-dev) which version of lxdoom AND the prerequisites are you running? (I'd like to know the versions as I've already corrupted the games with obviously incompatable versions of maemo-games-startup, and though I'm fortunately booting from MMC it's still a pain reinstalling the OS from internal flash to MMC to ensure a clean image). The versions I've seen are: FILES DATED Feb 2007 (This first link is the default off http://maemo.org/downloads/product/doom) http://openbossa.indt.org.br/games/pool/games/ lxdoom_1.4.5_armel.deb maemo-games-startup_0.1.7_armel.deb maemo-games-startup-dev_0.1.7_armel.deb FILES DATED June 2006: http://www.marceloeduardo.com/2.0beta lxdoom_1.4.3_armel.deb maemo-games-startup_0.1.4_armel.deb maemo-games-startup-dev_0.1.4_armel.deb maemo-games-startup-l10n-3.2-english_0.1-1r873_all.deb FILES DATED Nov 2005: (odd that maemo-games-startup has a later version number but an earlier creation date) http://www.home.unix-ag.org/simon/fi...nothing-mirror lxdoom_1.4.2_arm.deb maemo-games-startup_0.2.0_arm.deb |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
I just installed it using appl. manager, not from the .deb file.
can u do this, mrcanoe? Then u don't have to worry about any missing files, (it gets all needed files for u I think). Add these manually to application manager and then LXDOOM should be there to install. I am on version 3.2006.49-2. my repos. Re: Problems installing LxDoom
Thanks nosam but I'm still getting a "Can't init libshadow" error from the command line and the "play" button does nothing when I start from the menu.
I've tried from app menu and from deb files to no avail. I'll try to reflash the OS to get a clean image to start from to make sure that it isn't something I *introduced* when installing and configuring other software. I'll post back after to say if it works on my clean image, providing the wife doesn't go into labour before I get a chance! |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
good luck. I forgot to add I have the marceeduardo repository also on my 770.

Re: Problems installing LxDoom
Just for closure ... I managed to get lxdoom to work on a clean install of os2006 as well as 2007HE using the bora repositories suggested by nosam. I'm not sure it the libshadow problems were created by trying to load an incorrect version of lxdoom or some other configurations I had done earlier. I've not the time nor patience to test what went wrong in a scientific method, but I would recommend a clean flash of the OS and using the repositories described above - especially if there is a libshadow error when starting the game from xterm.
Thnx nosam |
Re: Problems installing LxDoom
I just successfully installed this on 2007HE by downloading these two debs
maemo-games-startup_0.1.7_armel.deb lxdoom_1.4.5_armel.deb and installing with: (as root) dpkg -i maemo-games-startup_0.1.7_armel.deb lxdoom_1.4.5_armel.deb It asks which folder to put the shortcut in and runs just great! |
