Edit or Delete photo tags?
 
Long story short, I got fired from my job, so I used my trusty N9 as a USB to take all my work with me.

The problem?

Somehow the gallery on my N9 has imported photo tags, when I got home I moved all my work stuff to my PC, and deleted everything from the N9

But those annoying tags are still there...

Is there any way to edit them or delete these photo tags?

Below is command line tool on N9 terminal:

Options:
-h Display this help and exit.
-V Show the program version and exit.
-v Be verbose during the program run.
-b Show large binary values.
-u Show unknown tags.
-g key Only output info for this key (grep).
-n enc Charset to use to decode UNICODE Exif user comments.
-k Preserve file timestamps (keep).
-t Also set the file timestamp in 'rename' action (overrides -k).
-T Only set the file timestamp in 'rename' action, do not rename
the file (overrides -k).
-f Do not prompt before overwriting existing files (force).
-F Do not prompt before renaming files (Force).
-a time Time adjustment in the format [-]HH[:MM[:SS]]. This option
is only used with the 'adjust' action.
-Y yrs Year adjustment with the 'adjust' action.
-O mon Month adjustment with the 'adjust' action.
-D day Day adjustment with the 'adjust' action.
-p mode Print mode for the 'print' action. Possible modes are:
s : print a summary of the Exif metadata (the default)
a : print Exif, IPTC and XMP metadata (shortcut for -Pkyct)

-i tgt Insert target(s) for the 'insert' action. Possible targets are
the same as those for the -d option, plus a modifier:
X : Insert metadata from an XMP sidecar file <file>.xmp
Only JPEG thumbnails can be inserted, they need to be named
<file>-thumb.jpg
-e tgt Extract target(s) for the 'extract' action. Possible targets
are the same as those for the -d option, plus a target to extract
preview images and a modifier to generate an XMP sidecar file:
p[<n>[,<m> ...]] : Extract preview images.
X : Extract metadata to an XMP sidecar file <file>.xmp
-r fmt Filename format for the 'rename' action. The format string
follows strftime(3). The following keywords are supported:
:basename: - original filename without extension
:dirname: - name of the directory holding the original file
:parentname: - name of parent directory
Default filename format is %Y%m%d_%H%M%S.
-c txt JPEG comment string to set in the image.
-m file Command file for the modify action. The format for commands is
set|add|del <key> [[<type>] <value>].
-M cmd Command line for the modify action. The format for the
commands is the same as that of the lines of a command file.
-l dir Location (directory) for files to be inserted from or extracted to.
-S .suf Use suffix .suf for source files for insert command.

So the list of tags that could be applied to the remaining images still included the "work tags" even though those jpegs are long gone, moved to the PC. So exiv2 wouldn't have anything to work on . . .

Restart tracker? Beware, it will wipe your device clean, IIRC. No pictures, no videos, no SMS, no nothing. BICBW, it's been a while since I used an N9.

I assume you've already tried rebooting the phone. I've found this is the easiest thing to do to get tracker back on its feet regarding added/deleted pics like when I save email and MMS attachments . . .

. . . Unless, of course, the all the tags ever applied are stored in a config file somewhere and never deleted . . . I grepped "tag" recursively from /home/user dir and quickly realized that that wasn't gonna get me anywhere.

And all your contacts, too! I almost did a restart tracker once before reading the full ramifications. Bad Nokia: Worst. Name. Ever. You'd think it would rebuild indexes and stuff, not almost wipe the phone. In fact, I'm not sure what the use case of "tracker-control -r" is. If you're giving away or selling the phone, you'd want to take off and nuke it from orbit by reflashing and clearing all the empty space. It's the only way to be sure.

On reflection, I guess captainofiron could back up all that stuff, restart tracker then restore everything, but not sure if that's more of a pain than just living with the excess tags.

This

As far as restart tracker, Im a bit nervous to use that, I might try to do a full backup to my PC and then just move stuff back after wiping it, but I doubt I would be able to remember everything I have done to the N9 to get it back to how I have it now.

I had entertained the idea of wiping it completely and starting fresh when I install my new battery.
