gpg + mail (claws)

Hello!

I've been googling around to find out how to get gpg support to some (I installed Claws) e-mail client on my Nokia 770 with OS2006.

I think there is gpg for checking repositories, so it could be possible to use it for signing and de/crypting emails, am I right?

Sorry my english and thanks for ansvering...

Have a nice day!

Yes, there is a gpg package used for the repositories, but it only provides the executable, whereas Claws needs libgpgme, for which there's no package. I plan to look at that, see if I can package the lib myself, without interfering with the provided gpg binary.

Would this also prevent me from being able to generate a simple key using DSA/Elgamel/1024bits? I cannot get the installed gpg implementation to do this for me without giving me an error saying "gpg: [Internal]:0: invalid algorithm"

I've been looking a bit more about that. The problem is that /usr/bin/gnupg which comes bundled with the n800 is a stripped-down gnupg that can only verify repository signatures. It's packaged as osso-gnupg and conflicts with gnupg. I suppose I could do a really hacky package, but I don't know if I really want to do that. that could break stuff.

I was thumbing through garage.maemo the other day and came across a project whereby the proponents were going to put together a package of network tools including Kismet and such but I don't recall if they were going to include encryption.

The N8x0 OS2008 really needs some reliable encryption software. I have reviewed a number of products and many of them seem to be unfinished (based on used comments at garage) so I am leery of using any of them.

Good news:

gnupg, gpgme, and claws-mail-pgp-plugins are now available on OS 2008 (Chinook
and Diablo). Untested on Chinook, but should work as well as on Diablo.

You'll need to import your private key(s) using command-line gpg if you want to
be able to decrypt and sign.

Can you explain how to import the keys?

I have installed the plugin for claws mail, is there anything else that needs downloading?

Just copy your ~/.gnupg/{pub,sec}ring.gpg to the tablet.
