Dead Links for firmware
Hey all,
I just received my N900 today, and wanted to reflash the firmware (from Europe to NA), but all the links in the Wiki for the Flasher tool and firmware binaries aren't working anymore. Would anybody be able to help me with getting the necessary files? Either Windows or Linux host files would work for me. Also, on a slightly related note, I remember seeing a "Getting Started" page on the Wiki in the past, with sections regarding soldering the microUSB port and such, but I can't find it anymore. Does anybody know what I'm talking about? |
Re: Dead Links for firmware
concerning micro usb port safety and prevention...
do you mean this one?... http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...+microUSB+port actually you'll get pretty much every micro usb troubleshooting topic if you use the button near the top of this page called "search" Wasn't hard to find all the threads... I just copied and pasted "soldering the microUSB port" statement from your post and tossed it into the search. For an exceedingly long time the nokia proprietary firmware and flashers have been gone..."PROPRIETARY" being the key issue... and that meaning maemo not being able to directly provide them since Papa (Nokia) was a rolling stone...(got that tune in my head) .I and many others realize that quite a few links should be removed or at least an addendum attached to the text to at least explain why the link is broken. Hell there are alot of broken things around... It's a man-power issue. There are tons of posts concerning where to find them...just type it in. |
Re: Dead Links for firmware
I was referring to this Wiki page actually:
https://wiki.maemo.org/N900_The_Perfect_Setup A shame about the firmware though, I'll keep digging. |
Re: Dead Links for firmware
the price of proprietary bits...
as far as flashers go 0xffff...or whatever the abrev. is (I can never remember) is great ....meant for it. otherwise ... hm... you haven't done enough postings to permit "p.m.-ing" yet sooo. ok man I'm gonna pull the link the moment you write back... assuming that you will intelligently bookmark it quickly.. ...AND remember the Wayback Machine, Archives, and deep web services ..etc... are your best friend .... when in doubt scour them... perhaps different wording in the query will present you with more or less results depending on exactly how you put your query. The flashers and utls. and firmwares are all here... make copies back them up for safe keeping I'll delete this link here shortly...(no point in tempting the powers that be)... : https://web.archive.org/web/20131117.../#sdk_releases |

Excellent!!!!
there's a catchy mnemonic ... it almost rhymes even reinob... thanks .. that'll stick in my cranium! hahaahahaa ... hell I got so much crap floating around in my head I keep trying to remember bits of this ..bits of that.. I forget 0xffff half the time! ..or at least give or take an extra "f" (Not the least of what I'm forgetting) it's an abrev. for Fiasco Firmware For (the) F$#!-ing Forgetful isn't it? :D ahh...laffs aside...or for that matter " 64k is the maximum value of 2 bytes.." yea...still... retaining too many numbers, figures and parallels for my visual learning centers in my brain at this time of night... |
Re: Dead Links for firmware
I am sure wiki page recommends searching with your favourite search engine for the file name.
