T-Mobile 3G AWS shutdown
N900s in the USA will be running out of places to get 3G as T-Mobile continues to build up The Brave New World of LTE.
It's gone in my area. "Some of you may be aware already that T-Mobile – as part of its network modernization process – is shutting down its AWS HSPA+ network in a number of markets this year. As it builds out its LTE network, T-Mo wants to recycle its older network technology. This move has actually been planned for some time now, but there are some pretty big markets having their AWS 1700/2100 4G/3G (U2100) networks shut-down now, or very soon." Re: T-Mobile 3G AWS shutdown
And as an FYI, as part of this process, T-mobile's intention will be to use the 1900 band for HSPA+. While this does not help T-mobile N900 users, this will at least allow N9 users (and users of any other device with 1900 band HSPA+ functionally) to continue to use HSPA+ (where it is available).
