memory management in 770

CTRl panel>memory shows that 33% of my storage memory is used, and only 18Mb storage is available. Does that mean my total storage mem is only 27 Mb?

Under details, they break it down into 9 Mb in use, installed apps 24 Mb, Other files 7 Mb.

1) where/what are these other files? move to MMC?
2) how can one tell which app is using more internal flash then MMC, or, simply put, is there any tweak, that one can more apps, or more portion of the app, on the MMC with sacrifice on speed but gain in more installed apps?

Would gpe file manager tell you more? Or I have to Xterm?

Thanks
bun

In terms of providing reliable and useful information, the memory applet is pretty worthless.

OMG, I thought the new 2007He2007.36-2 is sooooooo good, that it does NOT use any memory:eek: ! I keep adding web page until the 770 comes to his knee, and the memory shown remains unchanged! I then repeat the same exercis in 2006OS, same results. Well, now I have a project, to move 2007He2007.36-2 to flash! See you.......I think I have seen post that the process is the same as cloning 2006 to MMC, right?;) .....Oop, got to get a 2 G MMC 1st, *(&^$#

Thanks, Mil.

Re: memory management in 770

Umm............, this 770 certainly has a lot hidden traps, memory report by the device is a piece of s***, video works with a lot of tweaks, outlook sync for PIM is non exist. I think I am pretty smart:rolleyes: , within 2 hrs after I open this baby, I IM a senior member on this forum, ask "will I able to get anything out of this, or should I just return it?" His comments:"the 770 is strange, but you gona love it if you like to tweak thing." After 2 mons ownership, I totally agree with his comments. The 770 is NOT a palm, not a PDA, not a PC, not a phone. But with careful tweaking/taming, it can be all of the above. And during tweaking/taming, you learn more about PDA, PC, sync, media form factors etc. Is this a compliment or complaint? I guess depends on which side are you on..........

I know what I really really want to say. The 770 or N800 should be long DEAD, if there is no ITT forum. Agree? Disagree? Dont care?

Yes... the cloning script I posted about in another thread should work for all three OS's (2006, 2007 and 2007HE) - if you use it let me know if you have any problems! :)

I definately agree this forum sustains the Nokia Internet Tablets better than any official Nokia forum, or even maemo.org.
