Device Problems with Android, Jolla, N950, N9, N900, Now ...N810 and N800...
Ok...
seriously.. I got nothin'... my n800's and n810's have been running flawlessly forever now... I just didn't want to be left out... I feel like the Maytag repair man... http://learnthat.com/files/2010/12/a...epair-man1.jpg Nothing dramatic ever happens to my devices... They are still little tanks... my n8x0's aren't trying to gag the cat .. hump my dog ... or burn my house down... Just didn't want to be left out of all the fun, hubbub and drama here with everybody having so much popcorn material and me with an empty popcorn bowl.. |

Well I had to reflash my N900 and N9 from messing around with the OS. My N810 is just fine but I never did much to it, same with my "first one" Jolla. Speaking of which I really should take a dd image of my Jolla as there is no official way for me to reflash my device.
Anyway wanna break stuff try screwing with the OS :P I think my N900 USB port is starting to get a little loose so getting a bit worried about it. |

Fix the USB before it's late.

EDIT: Oh, and on topic, no USB and GSM is starting to show its very early signs of death. Also something went wrong with the proximity sensor, it's not working...I think it's software though, because the front camera and light sensor work. Keyboard slightly worn out. Other than that, the exterior looks new. |

I'd vote for continued development on important items... the lack of support is my only gripe.

Built in obsolescence doesn't work ...
on sooo many levels... Building a rock solid product is the easy part for some companies....making money from it afterward is the trick...or not.... a company making ends meet with enduser software purchases after the fact ... apple nailed the second half of the equation...but frankly not the 1st half......they have a thoroughly planned obsolescence with a money machine on the end of it...making it rather "evil" in countenance ..in my opinion... Nokia (with the n8x0) nailed the 1st half of the equation but couldn't manage the 2nd half ... |

Well, I guess fewer and fewer folks would buy your products if they kept breaking! My take on Apple, in regards to buying new replacements for their phones goes like this: they roughly planned (or hoped) folks would use them for about 2 years and then replace. But not because they were no longer working, indeed they make a pretty good product (both hardware and software). What they did is consistently make improvements and added new features that folks liked (or were made to believe they liked). Whether it's a little bigger screen, siri, better camera, pictures that briefly animate, better processor, pressure dependent responses and so forth. So their product kept growing in different ways such that the older models appear obsolete although they would work perfectly as a phone with a more limited set of capabilites.
EDIT: Oops, I forgot to mention their money sucking ecosystem that keeps the dough coming in! (your second half of the equation!) |

Yeah i guess they got an almost perfect system right down to the overseas asian child labour....
Not bad ... I think they could do better and eek out more profit by utilizing a better systematic slave labour force... I imagine children get tired too quickly ... ... I wouldn't suggest prisoners either...they don't have enough to live for... seniors and pregnant women are my guess for the next apple exploitable worker pool... I forgot now... Have I ever mentioned one of the greatest reasons I find Apple a loathsome corp. which should be burned to the ground and all memory erased of it's presence in history... Don't have to hunt far in the news for corps with a real lack of ethical fiber ... |
