Oops!
Guys, wonder if anyone can help me...?
While connected via SSH and in the middle of editing a system file, I got distracted. Some 10 minutes later, my distraction has become a real problem - so much so, I needed to make a call!, I forgot I was SSh'd in and editing and unplugged the USB to use the phone.....and of course now all I have, is a solid white screen!, oh b*ll*cks!............ My question is, what are the chances of recovering the handset and keeping my data?, can I repair the file I was working on from within Recovery Tool....and info appreciated, before I do a full reset (not desirable in this case, as I actually have data I would like to keep!) |
Re: Oops!
That's why I use Wi-Fi connection :D
Obviously you can mount your FS from recovery and repair your file using VI-editor. |

I don't have wifi, so I cannot ssh that way. My connection is a VPN via BT (Openzone), so I have no choice but to ssh via USB. Okay, I don't know how to mount the file structure from recovery but I do know how to edit....which is exactly what I need to do!...... How do I mount the FS? Edit: I'm in Recovery now, chosen option 4 (shell) I have made a rootfs directory..........the few webpages I've found are either out of date or the commands to mount the fs don't work!...typical. |
Re: Oops!
Go into recovery and choose Shell, mount your FS
Code:
mount /dev/mmcblk0p28 /mnt Code:
vi /mnt/path_to_file |
