Hello, i started developing applicatoin for viewing systemd logs.
Can be downloaded here: https://openrepos.net/content/coderus/journal-viewer Sources: https://github.com/CODeRUS/systemd-journal-viewer Post your ideas about improving application. |
Re: GUI for viewing systemd logs
This is great, thank you! It crossed my mind in the past that we were missing an app like this.
How may apps have you written now? Seriously, I don't know where you find the time. Really appreciate it. Ability to filter the model by unit and copy/paste individual messages would be useful, as well as retrieving journal entries that were written before the app opened (if that's possible). Out of curiosity, how does the app work? Does it listen for messages as they are written to the journal via dbus or something like that? Or does the app use root privileges to read the journal? |
Re: GUI for viewing systemd logs
App is running daemon under root connecting to systemd-journal and waiting for messages, then sending it via dbus to GUI. Yes i can add any filters for messages. Will try to add some universal options.

I presume you know about this, but just in case you don't, might be useful to borrow ideas / code from:

Sorry :D
But still, you (or they) might find some 'scope creep' happening eventually, perhaps? |
